Our stay at this hotel was to be a one-night stopover after arriving on a late flight. We left wishing we could've stayed longer. Due to the cost of the stay being so very reasonable, we didn't hold out much hope for the standard of the accommodation, especially as we had breakfast included in the price. Well, weren't we in for a shock?! And a very pleasant one at that. I don't think I've ever stayed at a hotel so steeped in history, antiques and so many objects of interest. From the grand and awe-inspiring entrance and foyer to the beautifully painted ceilings in the bedrooms and the open communal spaces that included a fabulous balcony overlooking the River Arno. As for the breakfast, the breakfast room itself and the food we ate was divine. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the Royal Victoria Hotel if ever find ourselves in Pisa again. A real treat for the senses.

The Royal Victoria Hotel is more than a hotel, it is an experience. We booked an economy room as we were only in Pisa for one night. It has the charm of the Grand Tour and the lobby is decorated with photos and articles from this period. The room was a little basic but we hadn't paid much. However there were so many interesting elements to the hotel, we found it charming. The best however were the staff. Reception couldn't do enough and when I went to book a taxi to the airport for very early the next morning, they sent Negronis to the room for us. Our very early flight meant we didn't sample breakfast. The concierge who was working at 3.00 am couldn't have been more accommodating. He helped us change the time of the taxi and brought us a lovely, much needed espresso!

Beautiful historic hotel with loads of character. Staying there feels like being transported back in time. Location is great. On the river and within walking distance of all major sights in the city (Leaning Tower about 10-15 minutes walk). Good value for money. Big rooms, decent breakfast. Lovely roof terrace full of plants and with drinks service. You will find mixed reviews of this place - some people love it, some hate it due to its age - but as long as you know what you're booking and you don't expect everything to be brand new and shiny like a boring chain hotel then go for it! It's the oldest hotel in Europe so of course it will have a few cracks here and there but we found it part of the charm.

The location was superb and the view over the Arno river was amazing- especially at sunset. Everything is within walking distance as well which makes it the perfect spot for sightseeing, eating, museums. The staff was super nice and helpful and the building has a great historical feel. The room is as incredibly spacious with lovely Hugh ceilings. The bathroom could do with a refresh. But overall it was a great stay. Watch out for those big wooden lion feet at the base of the bed frames. Lights out and walking around the room and BAM! My little toe was blue and purple for a week!

An amazing example of a historic hotel on the riverside of Pisa. Wonderful helpful staff, an amazing riverside room with balcony. Very efficient and clean but with a mix of antiques, quirky furniture and touches throughout the whole property. It was an 'experience' for us rather than just a stay. Excellent location where the staff advised us of their favourite restaurants and that the hotel is no more than 12 minutes walk in any direction to all of the attractions of Pisa (so much more here than the just Tower) We will stay here again for sure.
